I do believe in fate

So to date I have applied to (easily) over 100 jobs. It’s not been easy, rejections always hard. And these days it’s rare to even get a rejection email (let alone a letter!) most often you just don’t hear anything. Which in a way is quite nice as you forget how many you applied for. Not sure I could face 100 ‘unfortunately’ emails clogging up my inbox.

So today I decided to change tack. Since speaking to a recruitment company I’ve received advice on how to improve my cv from someone who reads them on a daily basis. I have also updated my Pinterest account to include a visual cv and am in the process of creating an infographic in an attempt to get my cv a second glance.

Onwards, upwards and in this case sideways too.

On a roll

So today, partly as procrastination, I applied for some jobs. Yes, that’s right, not a few, some. Nine in fact!

They ranged in location although I’m trying to avoid London, I’m just too much of a country bumpkin. I have applied for a couple of jobs I know I could do and wow at interview. But also a couple I felt that it’s better just to try.

So now I’m just sitting, waiting, wishing for a response… or new jobs to be posted.

I’m not telling you it’s going to be easy. I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it.

The idea

So first of all I’m not quite sure what it is I’m doing. Not just in general but with this blog.

So my name is Lauren. I’m a 22 year old (soon to be) Event’s Management student graduate about to enter the big wide world. On a bit of a whim I’ve decided that now is as good a time as any to start a blog to track my progression from hatching to taking flight.

I’m not quite sure what I’ll end up doing. I don’t even know where I will be in a few months, let alone a year. But I feel like now I have something to talk about. And it will be nice to track my progress. Right now I’m hungover and tomorrow I have to write and assignment and look for a job. And that’s scary. That’s scary like right down in your gut scary, run away and hide scary because I don’t know where to start. So I’ve started with a blog. Well, it’s something.

Wish me luck…
